MAZAL BAGELS, THE BEST BAGELS IN MADRID

MAZAL BAGELS, THE BEST BAGELS IN MADRID

Mazal Bagels is one of my favorite places to have a wonderful brunch or merienda in Madrid: is a family-run business, with their homemade bakery where they bake their delicious bagels and homemade cakes every day.

NEW YORK STYLE BAGELS IN MADRID

Mazal bagels started as a small place in Madrid’s Chamberí neighborhood where locals and foreigners has enjoyed their delicious brunch for years in a small business.

Over the years, the small coffee and bagels shop owned by Tamara, originally from Philadelphia and her Spanish husband, have grown, and Mazal Bagels has moved to a larger coffee and bagels shop  in Chamberí, near Rios Rosas metro station.

FRESHLY BAKED BAGELS IN MADRID

His own Bagel bakery has been growing as fast as his coffee shop, and it’s not uncommon to see people lining up at his counter to take their freshly baked bagelsand cakes home.

Their bagel recipe has no competition in Madrid, they are without a doubt the best I have tried in Spain: tender, crunchy, very tasty and with that unmistakable aroma of freshly baked bread that only homemade bagels has.

Bread lovers of the world, Mazal bagles deserves a visit. This is  the list of the types of bagels that await you freshly baked: onion, sesame seeds, four cheeses, “everything bagel” (sesame, onion, garlic , poppy seeds), jalapeño and cheese, cinnamon and raisins and “plain” (just salt).

AFFORDABLE AMERICAN BRUNCH IN MADRID

Mazal are not just bagels, eating at their coffee shop you will feel like you are traveling through the US enjoying their cold brew coffee on tap, or their freshly made pancakes.

On weekends they also bake challah, a braided sweet bread typical of Jewish-American cuisine, and with which they prepare their French toast.

Anything else? Yes, their fries have an addictive and tasty herbs seasoning, if you like fries don’t forget to order a good plate of their crispy fries to share.

MAZAL BAGELS’ ESSENTIALS

I’m going to be honest and brave and I’m going to dare with my two essentials from their bagel menu:

Bagel with two eggs: the bagel to choose filled with avocado, two scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and cream cheese. Incredibly delicious!

Bagel chicken schnitzel: bagel of your choice filled with crispy spiced chicken, homemade coleslaw, hummus and pickles. Another classic of Jewish-American gastronomy that is mouthwatering.

Of course, it is also essential that you try a simple cream cheese or peanut butter and jelly bagel if you are looking for a relaxing breakfast.

AMERICAN CAKES AND COOKIES

Don’t forget to try their American style apple pie

If what you are looking for are typical American sweets at Mazal Bagels You won’t be disappointed either, they often bake their famous American-style apple pie, and an incredible pecan pie.

You can order these cakes to go and enjoy them at home. In mine we are fans of their apple pie, it has accompanied us on more than one birthday.

Here is my review of one of those places“with soul” where you can find its owner, Tamara, serving with her team of waiters and giving you her best smile (and bagels) into a place that takes care of the product and the customer service.
